What Office Chair Does Elon Musk Use? What We Know

What office chair does Elon Musk use?

There is no reliably confirmed office chair model that Elon Musk uses across his workplaces. If you are looking for a chair with an executive look, the more useful question is which features will keep you comfortable through your own workday. A chair that looks right in an office still needs to fit the person sitting in it.

How to choose an executive office chair

Start with seat height. With your feet flat on the floor, your knees should be near a right angle and your thighs should feel supported without pressure behind them. If you use a fixed-height desk, make sure you can reach your keyboard comfortably at that seat height. A footrest can help when the desk requires you to sit higher, but it should support your feet securely rather than leave them dangling.

Next, consider the backrest. Look for support at your lower back and enough room to change posture without losing that support. A reclining function can make short breaks more comfortable; it is not a substitute for a good upright working position. Armrests should let your shoulders relax and your elbows rest near your sides without pushing you too far from the desk.

Seat depth matters, too. When you sit back against the backrest, aim for a little space between the front edge of the seat and the backs of your knees. If the seat is too deep, you may find yourself leaning forward and missing the back support you chose the chair for.

Should you choose a chair with a footrest?

A built-in footrest is most useful when you want to recline between tasks. Before choosing one, allow space behind the chair for the backrest and in front for the extended footrest. Keep the base stable on a level floor, and return the chair to an upright position before reaching across your desk or getting up.

For a closer look at that style, read our guide to executive swivel chairs with footrests. Our team recommends choosing by fit, adjustability, and available floor space rather than by an unconfirmed association with a public figure. That approach gives you a chair suited to the hours you spend in it.
